The Whisper Blade
The Whisper Blade is a double weapon. You can fight with it as if fighting with two weapons, but if you do, you incur all the normal attack penalties associated with fighting with two weapons, just as if you were using a one handed weapon and a light weapon. One side of the Whisper Blade’s double blade is a very sharp edge. The other side is a serrated edge. Each side does 1d8 damage, and the sharp edge must be used as the main weapon. When using a full round action to attack with the Whisper Blade, a character may choose, instead of attacking as if dual wielding, to attack twice for each attack. This means that a 20th level fighter could attack twice with a +20, twice with a +15, etc… When attacking with a standard action a character may to choose, instead of attacking as if dual wielding, to attack twice at her maximum attack bonus. The Whisper Blade is a +1 Magically Enhanced weapon and deals an extra point of damage on each successful hit, as well as gaining +1 to each attack roll.
The Whisper Blade is named thus due to the sound it makes in battle. When the blade is swung, whispers in the voices of its victims emit from it. The more people slain by the blade, the more audible its sound, even in combat. The blade is of average length, with as fine an edge as imaginable. A cord of scaly silver leather is wound around the handle, and a pure red gem is attached to the handles end.
